About Bo – Your Online Dutch Teacher

Hello, I am Bo, the founder of Dutchwithbo and your online Dutch teacher. I grew up in Alkmaar in North Holland and for the last six years I have been living on the beautiful island of Mallorca. As an expat myself, I understand exactly how it feels to build a new life in another country and to learn a new language.

I have a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and a post‑bachelor in Linguistics, and languages have always been my passion. Over the years I have lived in several countries and my first teaching experience was in Mexico, where I worked as an English teacher at a language school. Those years showed me how powerful language is for feeling at home, connecting with people and finding work.

Teaching is my passion, but I also love travelling in my campervan, swimming, cycling, being in nature and enjoying good food and wine. A healthy work–life balance is very important to me. That is one of the reasons I moved to Spain: the pace of life is slower and the weather is amazing, so I can spend more time outside doing the things I love.

The idea for Dutchwithbo started after several years of teaching Dutch 1‑on‑1. Private lessons are very effective, but they also depend completely on the teacher’s time and energy. I wanted to create a way for busy expats to learn Dutch online with more flexibility, while still feeling supported and motivated.

Today Dutchwithbo is a one‑woman business with a small group of affiliate partners. With my Dutch e‑learning and online Dutch lessons you can study whenever it suits you, while working towards clear deadlines so you keep making progress. By using a micro‑learning method, busy expats can learn Dutch in just 10–15 minutes a day and still see real results.
